“From the first settlers who came to our shores, from the first American Indian families who befriended them, men and women have worked together to build this nation. Too often the women were unsung, and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength, and love of the women who built America [were] as vital as [those] of the men whose names we know so well,” said President Jimmy Carter as he issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8, 1980, as National Women’s History Week.1

Following President Carter’s proclamation, Women’s History Month has been recognized each March in the US since 1987.1 For Women’s History Month 2025, Dermatology Times spoke with inspirational female clinicians to learn more about the evolving landscape of dermatology, the challenges they have overcome, and the impact they hope to make. Hear from Hilary Baldwin, MD; Zoe Diana Draelos, MD; Lisa Swanson, MD; and Renata Block, MMS, PA-C, among others.

Additionally, Dermatology Times’ editor in chief, Christopher Bunick, MD, PhD, met with Adelaide A. Hebert, MD, at South Beach Symposium to discuss her achievement as the Women’s Dermatologic Society’s 13th Legacy Honoree and earning the society’s President’s Award. Hebert reviewed the influential women in her life, as well as the lessons she has learned along the way.

Another exciting aspect of March is the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting. Dermatology Times staff will be on-site in Orlando, Florida, to report on late-breaking research data, session updates, expert perspectives, and more.
