Expert Reflections: Impact of Dermatology Times

In a milestone year for Dermatology Times, our Editorial Advisory Board reflects on how the publication has impacted their practice.

As Dermatology Times celebrates its 45th anniversary, we invite you to join us on a journey through the most impactful milestones in dermatology’s history. Over the decades, advancements in clinical practices, groundbreaking treatments, and innovative technologies have revolutionized the specialty, benefiting both practitioners and patients alike. Earlier this month, we shared a timeline of impactful events in dermatology. Throughout the rest of the month, we'll gain invaluable insights from our esteemed Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) on the influential people, pivotal drugs, and cutting-edge technologies that have shaped dermatology.

We recently asked our EAB how Dermatology Times has impacted them and their practices.

Omar Noor, MD: Dermatology Times has offered a medium for awareness. This awareness extends to people, our patients, dermatologists, and pharmaceutical companies to bring more treatment options to us for our patients and to help us better take care of our patients. Thank you for constantly being on the side of medicine, furthering our field in the eyes of the world.

Joel Schlessinger, MD: Dermatology Times has been a great resource throughout my career. The articles are practical, and the columns always are of interest.I always learn so much from Dr Zoe Draelos’ articles and look forward to reading David Goldberg’s, [MD, JD,] Legal Eagle articles as well. It isn’t a stretch to say that after I left my residency, Dermatology Times was the first real-world experience I had and informed me of the way that actual dermatologists practiced. I still value it greatly!

Mark Lebwohl, MD: Dermatology Times is a great resource for getting new information and reinforcing material that I already know or at least should know.

Zoe Diana Draelos, MD: Dermatology Times has changed my life tremendously.I have written a column in Dermatology Times for every issue now for 25 years. I love to write, and Dermatology Times has provided this wonderful opportunity.

Tina Alster, MD: Dermatology Times provides inclusive overviews of a wide range of dermatology-related topics including medical, surgical, legal, legislative, and practice management issues—many areas in which I don’t have a particular interest nor expertise. I appreciate the brief synopses of important topics that I would not have the time (nor inclination) to read but are nonetheless helpful for my practice.

Renata Block, PA-C: The fact that I was the first PA to be part of the advisory editorial board has changed the entire dynamic in the field for dermPAs in the publication space. Dermatology Times is the leader in welcoming APPs to their platform because medicine is a collaborative effort. Being recognized and sitting at the table with those who inspire is an honor. Dermatology Times continues to be at the forefront of providing evidence-based information, creating robust discussions, and interviewing renowned leaders in the field. Thank you!

Raj Chovatiya, MD, PhD: Dermatology Times is the source of the latest happenings in dermatology. While it’s difficult to keep up with each recently presented abstract, conference presentation, published article, and [news] release, Dermatology Times is able to sort through the information for you and put it all in place where you can digest that information efficiently and rapidly—exactly what you need after a long day of patient care!

Helen Torok, MD: Our monthly dermatology journals are not as current and up-to-date as Dermatology Times. I always read it, as I get the most current dermatology developments.

Mona Shahriari, MD: Dermatology Times has played a significant role in, not only my education during residency, but also upon becoming an attending. With their up-to-date content that is delivered in a variety of formats, I can trust that I will get the education I need in a format that is easy to follow. I love that they offer videos, podcasts, roundtables, conference coverage and so much more. And as soon as new data drops, Dermatology Times is there to report on the latest derm news that will impact our clinical practice. Their content is fresh and they clearly have a pulse on what is relevant and hot in dermatology. I love that they rotate the speakers on their platforms so you can always learn from individuals with a fresh perspective. I don't know if I'd be where I am today if I didn't have Dermatology Times as an educational resource over the last 10 years.

Roy Geronemus, MD: Dermatology Times has brought up-to-date information, meeting summaries and controversies to the field in a timely and well-constructed manner.
