Joshua Zeichner, MD: Here’s case No. 1. This is a 2-year-old boy previously diagnosed with moderate atopic dermatitis. He presents to his dermatologist with worsening of red, dry, itchy patches on his arms. The family has taken the child to the pediatrician, who recommended over-the-counter agents. The irritation and redness improved initially, but after 3 months, the patient experienced a flare. The family was then referred to the dermatologist for the next steps.
