Morgantown, W.Va. - A skin test that could allow detection of Alzheimer's disease in its earliest stages may become a reality.
The work is based on the hypothesis that Alzheimer's affects the body systemically, HealthDay News reports.
The test zeroes in on two forms of an enzyme involved in the degradation of amyloid, the protein that accumulates in the brain of a person with Alzheimer's, according to researchers at the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center.
