Nanette Silverberg, MD, highlights new dermatology advancements and the significance of conferences like MOPD in shaping the future of treatment.
As the Masters of Pediatric Dermatology (MOPD) Conference approaches, Dermatology Times had the opportunity to speak with Nanette Silverberg, MD, chief of pediatric dermatology for Mount Sinai Health Systems and clinical professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As a returning speaker to the prestigious conference, Silverberg expressed her enthusiasm for the event's strong lineup of speakers and the opportunity to gain valuable insights from her colleagues.
"This is my second time speaking at Masters of Pediatric Dermatology, and I'm looking forward to a really star-studded lineup of speakers," said Silverberg. "I know that every time that I've attended, not just as a speaker, that everybody always brings their A-game and shares their real special secret recipes that they use in their practice."
The MOPD Conference is renowned for its discussions on pediatric dermatology, particularly the introduction of novel therapeutics for children. Silverberg emphasized the importance of these new treatments and their imminent availability in clinical practice. "I'm really looking forward this year to seeing a lot of the novel therapeutics in children being presented, particularly those agents that are coming down the pike," she stated. "I think that there's a lot of novel agents that will be around as prescribable agents very soon, and many of the investigators who have worked on these agents will be presenting the data."
In addition to the presentations, Silverberg highlighted the importance of engaging with poster sessions, which often showcase emerging research and innovative approaches in the field. "I always like to go through the posters and the presentations as well," she noted. "You see a lot of what the future is in dermatology that way."
Silverberg also acknowledged the broader educational experience of the conference, including its connection to the South Beach Symposium, which delves into both practical dermatology applications and in-depth scientific discussions. The combination of these events offers a comprehensive look at current and future advancements in pediatric dermatology.
With the rapid evolution of dermatological treatments and ongoing clinical research, conferences such as MOPD remain essential for healthcare professionals seeking to stay at the forefront of their field. Silverberg’s participation underscores her commitment to advancing pediatric dermatology through education and collaboration, ensuring that patients benefit from the latest scientific breakthroughs.
