Staphylococcus Aureus Virulence
January 1st 2003San Diego - Ominous episodes of furunculosis due to an unusual strain of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) appeared suddenly among a classroom of third-grade students in a Swiss village. Some boils were so severe and painful the children had to be hospitalized for surgical drainage and IV antibiotics, a Swiss/French research team reported at the recent Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.

November 15th 2002Paris - There is compelling evidence with in vitro and animal studies that an increase in some antioxidants - especially those applied to the skin - helps protect the skin from cell-damaging oxidants, whether the aging is due to intrinsic or extrinsic stressors. Where the research falls short, one expert said, is in the lack of human studies.
