Video: Adult anxiety, depression linked with atopic dermatitis

Published in the British Journal of Dermatology, a cross sectional population-based study of almost 3,000 individuals looking at anxiety and depression in adults with atopic dermatitis found that adults with atopic dermatitis had significantly higher self-reported anxiety and depression scores compared with adults without atopic dermatitis.

The take home message: It’s easy to ascertain why self confidence and social interactions are impaired and may linger, even after treatment begins in patients with atopic dermatitis. Remember you are just not treating the skin, you’re treating the whole patient.
