The NFCMMD Begins

The New Frontiers in Cosmetic Medicine and Medical Dermatology beings today in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. It starts on Friday, November 12 and ends Sunday, November 14.

This meeting is geared toward dermatologists and dermatology residents, according to meeting director David J. Goldberg, MD, JD, director of Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey, past director of Mohs and laser research at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and adjunct professor of law at Fordham University School of Law in New York, New York.

The meeting has 4 components, Goldberg explained, including:

• The newest advances in medical dermatology such as new treatments or therapies for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, skin cancer, and more.
• Updates in cosmetic devices and approaches like new injectables, techniques, or noninvasive body contouring. This also includes what millennials are looking for and the male cosmetic patient.
• Practice management, including best performing practices, the aesthetic journey of a patient, and legal approaches to aesthetics in a cosmetic practice.
• Live sessions comprised of treating aging skin with injectables as well as demonstrations of noninvasive body contouring.

Goldberg is giving a keynote address called, “New Frontiers in Cosmetic Medicine and Medical Dermatology” in which he focuses on novel approaches.

“I'm going to discuss novel approaches to injectable fillers,” Goldberg said. “Most fillers create collagen, there's a new one that's derived from fat matrix that actually leads to our production of fat.” He will also touch on advances in body contouring, cosmeceuticals, and nutraceuticals.

“This is a meeting that has taken off. We run it every year. And all I can say to people for next year, which we'll talk about the meeting is you know, we're looking out to, frankly, expand space,” Goldberg said. “But if people are interested in attending the meeting, they have to sign up early. We have a lot of people who actually were upset they couldn't get into the meeting. I apologize, but you know, the meeting’s taken off.”
