Study: Pay gap slightly narrowed for primary care, specialist under ACA

A recently published study finds from 2008 to 2017, primary care physicians received only a slightly greater rise in compensation than specialists under the 2010 Affordable Care Act.
Under the 2010 Affordable Care Act, physicians were concerned with the legislation’s impact on their pay, however, a newly published study finds doctors’ compensation has continued to increase since the law was passed, with primary care physicians witnessing a slightly greater increase in pay than specialists.
Medical Economics highlights the results of the study, including the mean annual pay rate increase for primary care physicians with 2.2% and 1.2% for specialists from 2008 to 2017.
