International report

- Playing video games excessively can lead to a skin condition dubbed “Playstation palmar hidradenitis,” characterized by painful sores that occur due to sweating, according to BBC News.

Researchers examined the case of a 12-year-old girl who went to a Swiss hospital because of painful sores on the palms of her hands. She was diagnosed with idiopathic eccrine hidradentis, which is linked to intense sweating, according to the study published in the

British Journal of Dermatology

.

The doctors believe the condition was caused by tightly gripping the game controller with intensely sweating hands, due to the tension of the game playing. The best treatment is to give video games a break until the lesions clear, researchers say.
