Researchers discover genetic markers linked to psoriasis

The discovery could lead to new drugs and therapies for the disease, PR Newswire reports.

For the multicenter study, researchers used genome technology to identify subtle genetic signals that influence psoriasis risk. They scanned millions of DNA variations in the genome to find those significantly more likely to occur in psoriasis patients, according to the report.

Recently, researchers have increased the number of independent genetic loci associated with psoriasis from one to 10, four of which were identified for the first time by this study.
