Recipients to be honored at virtual 2020 Giants of Dermatology awards

Six recipients will be announced and recognized as this year’s Giants of Dermatology honorees in a virtual gala to be held in early December.

Dermatology Times will announce the recipients of its 2020 Giants of Dermatology awards in a virtual ceremony, with six reputable individuals being recognized this year.

Although COVID-19 protocols made it impossible to come together to honor these outstanding physicians in person, a virtual gala will be held online on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and is supported by Almirall.

The Giants of Dermatology awards recognizes leading physicians and researchers in the field of dermatology whose landmark successes, ongoing inspiration and career-long dedication redefine what is possible for this specialty.

This prestigious honor celebrates the achievements of the visionaries who have devoted their time, talent and resources to improving care for the millions of patients and their families affected by skin conditions and diseases. Their discoveries have propelled the field forward and established the building blocks for future breakthroughs.

Selection starts with an international peer-to-peer nomination program. The distinguished Advisory Board who vetted the 2020 nominations includes:

  • Mark G. Lebwohl, M.D.
  • Daniel Mark Siegel, M.D., FAAD
  • Robert S. Kirsner, M.D., Ph.D., FAAD
  • C. William Hanke, M.D., MPH, FAC
  • Jill S. Waibel, M.D.

Board members selected the honorees who had contributed most significantly to the advancement of the practice of dermatology based on these criteria: excellence in education and training; technology and product innovation; research and discovery; dermatologic surgery and humanitarianism and leadership.

The hour-long virtual awards ceremony will be held Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Click here to register for the event.
