According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, symptoms of psoriasis often start between the ages of 15 and 25.1 However, symptoms of psoriasis can start at any age and stage of life.

The majority of patients with psoriasis will experience their first flare when they are between the ages of 15 and 35. Despite this, nearly 1 in 3 patients are under the age of 20 at the disease's first onset.1

"While it can begin at any age, psoriasis has 2 peaks of onset, the first at age 20 to 30 years and the second at age 50 to 60 years," according to April Armstrong, MD, MPH.2 "It affects men and women equally but is more common in non-Hispanic whites. Some patients are more prone to developing psoriasis, especially if there is a family member with psoriasis."
