We want to know: Will you be attending the symposium in Miami Beach this week?
The 2025 South Beach Symposium begins this week in Miami Beach, Florida. The 3-day meeting hosts dozens of presentations hosted by key leaders in the field. The meeting covers a wide range of dermatologic topics, inclusive to both medical and aesthetic professionals.
“I’ve been doing this now for 15 years at South Beach Symposium, and I learned something new every single time,” Glynis Ablon, MD, board-certified dermatologist, associate clinical professor at UCLA, SBS advisory board member, and owner of the Ablon Skin Institute and Research Center in Manhattan Beach, California, said in an interview with Dermatology Times. “My dad always said, ‘all you need is one new thing,’ so I think the talks really do become more advanced.”
"Two of the things I'm most excited about: One is a talk on exosomes. I thought exosomes were baloney. Sounded like liposomes, and liposomes have been around for 20 years. Never done anything useful in the skin. But it does turn out exosomes do something," Matthew Zirwas, MD, board-certified dermatologist at Bexley Dermatology and Dermatology Times board member, said in a recent interview. "I'm actually really excited to hear Michael Gold talk about exosomes. He is really a brilliant guy who's brought so much new to the specialty. Then the other things that I'm most excited about are some of the normal things that you would expect. In particular, Shawn Kwatra, who is the chairman of dermatology at [the University of] Maryland, is going to be talking about prurigo nodularis, and he really just gives such a great talk on it. That is a disease state in which we now are changing lives like you would not believe. It is just super exciting to have literally the best person in the world talking about the thing that they are most knowledgeable about."
A few standout sessions include, “The Spectrum of Treatment: Cross-Disciplinary Management of Dermatologic Conditions,” led by Christopher Bunick, MD, PhD, medical dermatology chair of SBS and editor-in-chief of Dermatology Times, a hair session led by Natasha Mesinkovska, MD, PhD, and, “Therapeutic Updates,” led by Leon Kircik, MD.
Dermatology Times staff will be onsite at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel providing updates on the latest research in the field, expert interviews, and more. Subscribe to our eNewsletter to stay in the loop on the latest in dermatology news.
