Pointers With Dr Portela: Battle of the Pimple Patches

This week’s Pointers With Dr Portela, Dustin Portela, DO, explains pimple patches and hydrocolloid patches, diving into how to treat acne when it surfaces.

In this week’s video, Dustin Portela, DO, a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon at Treasure Valley Dermatology in Boise, Idaho, explains pimple patches and hydrocolloid patches, how they work, and which one works best.

Portela dives into how to get rid of a pimple once it has come to the surface of the skin. The object of these patches are to help create an environment to help the skin heal faster. While a pimple patch can come medicated, hydrocolloid patches do not, thus creating a difference in how they work.

Watch the video below for more on pimple and hydrocolloid patches.
