National Report

- New research suggests a diet rich in omega-3 can ease the severity of eczema symptoms, according to Telegraph.co.uk.

German researchers found that patients with the atopic, or allergic, form of eczema cut symptoms by almost a fifth when given purified fish oil supplements, the Telegraph reports.

The study, which is published in the British Journal of Dermatology looked at 44 patients with atopic eczema, aged 18 to 40, who were given daily tablets of either 5.7 g Omega-3 supplements or placebo for eight weeks.

Results showed those taking the supplement decreased symptoms by an average of 18 percent, when measured on the standard Severity Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis by the end of the trial.
