New B6 derivative more stable as cosmetics ingredient

Berlin - A new vitamin B6 derivative called Panadoxine P may become a commonly used ingredient in cosmetic products in the near future.

German chemicals company Daiichi claims the new derivative has the same therapeutic properties as the original B6, but is more stable, according to cosmeticsdesign-europe.com.

Deficiencies in vitamin B6 can cause hair loss and skin inflammation, but B6 ingredients in topical products used to treat these conditions can cause skin irritation - a reason that the use of vitamin B6 in cosmetics has proved controversial.

Daiichi says Panadoxine P is a significantly more stable ingredient for use in skincare and hair-care products.
