Sydney, Australia - A report by Ninemsn notes that an instrument designed to automatically diagnose melanoma is more accurate than general practitioners, according to one study.
The research was published in Archives of Dermatology and notes that the SolarScan was accurate 85 percent of the time compared to an 81 percent accuracy rate for several dermatologists.
The Australian College of Dermatologists urged caution, noting the small number of doctors and images involved in the study, and citing that a much larger study would be required to validate the early results.
