Isolagen to test wrinkle-treatment process yet again in November

Houston -- Isolagen Inc. in early August reported mixed results from two trials of its wrinkle treatment and said the findings indicate the need for another trial, which will be conducted in the fall.

Houston -- Isolagen Inc. in early August reported mixed results from two trials of its wrinkle treatment and said the findings indicate the need for another trial, which will be conducted in the fall.

In two studies, both involving about 100 patients, Isolagen's process for injecting a patient's own cells just below the skin to reduce wrinkles showed less than consistent results. In one study, patients found the process to work, but too few doctors reported positive findings using a different evaluation method. In the other study, responses of patients and doctors were positive enough for the trial to be deemed successful.

An Isolagen spokesperson said the company plans to conduct another study in November, also to involve about 100 patients. The spokesperson said that based on what the company predicts will be positive results for the new study, Isolagen hopes to seek Food and Drug Administration approval of the wrinkle-treatment process in 2006.
