Published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in Practice, a randomized, single-blind, crossover-controlled trial comparing twice daily soaking baths followed by application of an occlusive moisturizer vs. twice weekly soaking baths in a small pediatric population with atopic dermatitis.
The results: The twice daily bathing method significantly decreased SCORAD compared with twice weekly as an acute treatment intervention with a 30% improvement in SCORAD.
Caregiver assessment was also significantly improved in the twice daily group.
