Alexandria, VA July 1, 2023 - Georgia-based dermatology Physician Assistant Laura Bush, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA, today assumed the role of president, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants Board of Directors. Bush, a DermPA™ with Fayette Area Dermatology in Fayetteville, Georgia, will serve a one-year term leading the nine-member elected board.

“It is an honor and absolute privilege to represent SDPA’s talented membership as president of the board of directors,” Bush said. “Along with the board, I will continue working diligently to lead the SDPA in a direction that benefits patients, membership, and the healthcare community. SDPA is committed to superior patient outcomes achieved through the world-class education and training it offers. I look forward to working with leadership and staff to ensure SDPA delivers on its commitment to empower, educate, and advance DermPAs™.”

Before finding her niche in dermatology 20 years ago, Bush worked as a PA in other medical fields including emergency medicine and family practice. Her leadership experience spans more than a decade, beginning with the Georgia Dermatology PAs (GDPA) where she volunteered as treasurer for six years. Subsequently, she won a seat on the SDPA Board of Directors and was later elected secretary/treasurer, president-elect, and now president. She was also the secretary/treasurer for the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF).

Bush completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida, earned a Master of Medical Science from Emory University, and obtained her Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg.

Outgoing SDPA Board President Lauren Miller, MPAS, PA-C, hailed Bush as a professional and dedicated leader who will guide SDPA on a positive path forward. “Laura’s experience serving as a board member and in other leadership roles positions her to excel as the board president. I look forward to the new ideas and innovative programs the 2023-2024 board develops and implements.”
