It is with great pleasure that we announce the addition of Elaine Siegfried, M.D., to the Dermatology Times Editorial Advisory Board. Dr. Siegfried will join Ronald Wheeland, M.D.; Norman Levine, M.D.; and Zoe D. Dr. Siegfried is a pediatrician and dermatologist with additional board certification in pediatric dermatology. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985 and, subsequently, completed dual residency training at the University of Iowa in both pediatrics and dermatology.
Dr. Siegfried has provided professional expertise for numerous organizations, including the board of directors of the American Board of Dermatology; the executive committee of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology; several committees of the American Academy of Dermatology, for which she most recently chaired the Environment and Drugs Committee; the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Dermatology; and the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.
She also has served on the Editorial Advisory Board of Pediatric Annals, as associate editor of Journal Watch for Dermatology, and as an assistant section editor for the Archives of Dermatology's "Cutting Edge." She is the author or co-author of more than 80 original papers, abstracts and book chapters, and a frequently invited lecturer.
She has been repeatedly recognized as one of Woodward White's Best Doctors in America.
Dr. Siegfried's academic practice focuses on all aspects of caring for children with congenital and acquired skin problems. In addition to running a busy clinical practice, she acts as principal investigator in multiple industry-sponsored clinical trials, manages and provides consultation for pediatric inpatients with severe skin diseases, and provides surgical and laser treatment.
As an adviser for Dermatology Times, she will review meeting programs, suggest topics for articles and special reports; evaluate manuscripts, participate in roundtable discussions and counsel editors as questions arise.
