Shino Bay Aguilera, DO, board certified dermatologist, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, started the Aesthetics Biomedical’s Perspectives: The Evolution of Aesthetics symposium off as a keynote speaker discussing “Diversity in Aesthetics & Mindfulness”, a topic, he says, is close to his heart. He talked about his background growing up in Panama, the physiology behind acceptance, and how social media can distort the image patients have of themselves. Additionally, Aguilera highlighted to importance of wellness and how stress not only ages the skin, but also the hair.
After, Aguilera also participated in a panel discussion called, “How To Strengthen Your Aesthetic Practice Through Social Media Partnerships & Campaigns.” Ava Shamban, MD, Beverly Hills, California; Joie Tavernise, LE, New York, New York; Jennifer Stieber, NP, Nashville, Tennessee; Frankie Grande, a Broadway performer and social media mogul; and moderator Sheldon Larson, chief marketing officer at Aesthetics Biomedical, Phoenix, Arizona, joined in on the conversation. Everything on user engagement, how to work with influencers, and how show casing aesthetic treatments on social media was discussed.
In a video interview with Dermatology Times®, Aguilera touches of social media and diversity, how to align oneself to avoid aging and stress, and how the symposium stands out from the other conferences that he has attended.
