Dermatologists will debunk incorrect information found online and educate content creators.
Dermatologists guided efforts with CeraVe to launch the Clear It Up Like a Derm campaign to educate consumers on preventing and treating acne. The campaign aims to “clear up the acne confusion” and explore the emotional impacts of acne and debunk myths that are prevalent regarding acne and its treatment.1
Through its first-ever Global Acne Academy experience, board-certified dermatologists will educate more than 300 content creators and healthcare professionals on acne. By creating content that corrects myths circulating online regarding acne, the campaign will reach a wide audience and correct some of the misguided information consumers read online.
Dermatologists including Muneeb Shah, DO, of Mooresville, North Carolina, Mamina Turegano, MD, of Metairie, Louisiana, and Evan A. Rieder, MD, of New York, New York, are leading the efforts to get better information to the public.
"As a dermatologist on social media, it's exciting to see the growing interest in skin care products and healthy skincare habits among consumers, which is especially beneficial for those seeking advice on caring for acne-prone skin and breakouts," said Muneeb Shah, DO, FAAD, board-certified dermatologist in a press release. "However, tips on social media aren't always dermatologist-approved, so working withCeraVe to help spread proper education about acne care will help ensure that consumers are armed with the right information to properly care for their acne and discover a skincare routine that best suits their needs."
TikTok star Charli D'Amelio will share her personal acne journey and the emotional struggles she faced dealing with acne. "As someone who grew up on social media, having acne often impacted my self-esteem, so my journey to having confidence on camera has taken quite some time," said D'Amelio in a press release. "I know now that dealing with acne is an incredibly common experience, and I hope my followers understand that they are not alone in their skincare journeys. I want to help them find resources and products that will make them feel confident in their skin."
CeraVe is committed to offering not only therapeutic products but also to educating consumers about acne and how they can better take care of their skin.
