Aspiring to Leadership in Aesthetics

Dr. Mary Lynn Moran, the first female president of the AAFPRS, offers advice for helping women in plastic surgery achieve leadership positions within the specialty.

As the first female president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), Mary Lynn Moran, MD, offers advice to her peers for supporting young female surgeons into positions of leadership as well as to the young plastic surgeons themselves who aspire to such positions within the specialty. Within the AAFPRS specifically, she recommends young surgeons ask to be part of academy committees, speak out and ensure they are seen, and talk directly with the current president about opportunities.
