Yesterday, Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, announced the opening of 3 brand-new training centers for licensed providers in the US.1 The company’s training arm, Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) will expand its high-quality, hands-on curriculum to California, Georgia, and Texas.

The educational initiative already includes exclusive resources from AMI faculty and experts such as webcasts and roundtable events, national symposia, and a free online learning program. One of these consists of the AMI Business Education e-training course for health care management and operations, launched in November 2024.2

"As a clinician and an educator in the aesthetic space, one of the biggest challenges we face is running and growing a business while improving our clinical skills to provide great outcomes for our patients," said Joseph A. Russo, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon.2

The educational initiative aims to advance clinicians’ skills and techniques using Allergan’s extensive product portfolio. These comprehensive and unique training programs will help dermatologists continue to provide safe and natural-looking results for patients across the country.

"The new AMI Training Centers are designed to help expand and elevate our existing best-in-class training programs," said Glen Curran, Senior Vice President of Allergan Aesthetics. "The facilities will offer a range of courses for providers at every stage of learning helping them to safely and effectively deliver excellent outcomes and increase patient satisfaction."1

The training centers are presided over by Saami Khalifian, MD, a double board-certified dermatologist and the AMI Training Centers Medical Director.

“I am honored to be the Medical Director for AMI Training Centers and to play a pivotal role in the development and ongoing evolution of these facilities and the programming offered within,” Khalifian said in a press release. “Continued investment in medical education, paired with a strong community of supportive peers, helps any provider achieve their full potential of excellence. I look forward to seeing the impact that AMI will continue to have on the aesthetics community.”1

With these latest US centers, the company will now have over 10 locations in key markets around the world. Providers of all levels who are looking to enhance their skills and network with fellow professionals are encouraged to get involved.

The first center, AMI Orange County, will open this year at the Allergan Aesthetics Headquarters in Irvine, California. Additional locations will open in Austin and Atlanta. Program application and enrollment will begin in March.

"As a leader in aesthetics, Allergan Aesthetics remains steadfast in its mission to empower aesthetics providers and business owners with innovative training offerings across our robust portfolio of products,” Curran said in a statement. “Peer to peer training, like that offered through AMI, enables providers to keep their skills sharpened to ensure desired patient outcomes and enhance the overall safety and effectiveness of treatments, which in turn, helps to advance the industry as a whole.”
