Dermatology lends itself well to telemedicine as third-year Stanford Medical School student, Akhilesh Pathipati, discusses in his 2016 AAD poster, “Implementation of Stanford Health Care Direct-Care Teledermatology Program." Pathipati notes there are several models within teledermatology, though his study focused more on direct care teledermatology. Over the course of a six-month pilot program, the study had 38 patients take advantage of the service and found that doctors were typically able to make a diagnosis that their patients were confident in.
